Executive Director of Gift Planning
Elizabeth Ayers is the Executive Director of Gift Planning at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a former member of the Board of National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (NACGP) and served as NCPP 2017 Conference Chair. She is also a member of the North Carolina Planned Giving Council and served on its Board from 2013 through 2016.
Prior to joining UNC in 2008 she worked at The Ohio State University, where she served as Director of Planned Giving for the Medical Center and Associate Director of Planned Giving for the University. She has worked for the Columbus Foundation, served on non-profit boards and committees and was president of Central Ohio Planned Giving Council in 2007.
Ayers has presented on various charitable topics at local and national conferences including PPP, NCPGC, AAMC, Wealth Counsel, the North Carolina Community College Fundraisers' state conference and AFP North Carolina state conference.
She has practiced law in the areas of estate and charitable planning and civil litigation. She holds a JD from Capital University, M. M. from Ohio University, and a B. M. from Wittenberg University.
Elizabeth's husband is a double degree Tar Heel and they enjoy all things Carolina.
Director of Gift Planning
Beth MacKethan is the Director of Gift Planning at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to her transition to fundraising, Beth was a tax consultant in KPMG's International Tax group where she advised clients on a variety of tax strategies and compliance issues.
Beth, a native of Chapel Hill, received her B.A. from William Smith College, J.D. from North Carolina Central University School of Law, NC, and LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. She lives in Raleigh with her husband, son, and two dogs.
Associate Director of Gift Planning
Brandon Wright joined University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Office of Gift Planning in June 2015. Prior to joining Carolina's gift planning team, Brandon spent more than 10 years with UNC School of Law's office of advancement. Brandon held several positions at Carolina Law including Assistant Dean of Advancement, Associate Director of Development, and Deputy Director of Development.
From January 2001 - September 2004, Brandon served as Associate Dean for External Relations at Campbell University's Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law. He began his professional career at Wachovia Bank. He held several positions within the bank in the Triad, Triangle and Sandhills regions of North Carolina before transitioning to higher education fundraising.
Brandon is a member of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners and a member of the North Carolina Planned Giving Council. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Appalachian State University, and is a licensed North Carolina Real Estate Broker.

Stephanie Zaino is an Associate Director of Gift Planning at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A native North Carolinian, Stephanie graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2012 with a B.A. in Political Science with honors. She earned her J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School, where she focused on the laws governing trusts and estates. After law school, Stephanie served a fellowship with the University of Notre Dame's Office of Gift Planning before returning to Carolina in April 2016.
She is a member of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners, the North Carolina Planned Giving Council, and the Durham and Orange County Estate Planning Council. An avid reader and Tar Heel fan, she and her husband Larry (also a Tar Heel) live in Chapel Hill with their two cats. They can frequently be found hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains.
